Privacy Policy
Effective October 28, 2026
Hail to the Guess has no accounts and does not ask for your name, email or any other personal details to play.
What stays on your device
Your game progress, statistics (games played, win rate, streaks and guess counts) and settings are saved in your browser's local storage. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us. Clearing your browser's data for this site deletes it.
Anonymous usage statistics
We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count visits and understand how the game is played. It records information such as pages viewed, the site that referred you, browser and device type, country, and game events like finishing a puzzle, the number of guesses, whether Hard mode was on and whether you used a share button. Umami does not use cookies, and we cannot use these statistics to identify you. We do not sell or share them.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
Sharing and links
The Share button uses your device's share menu or copies your result; nothing is sent to us. Links to other sites, such as Reddit and Wikimedia Commons, are covered by those sites' own privacy policies.
Advertising
The site does not show ads at this time. If that changes, this policy will be updated first, and we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Children
The game is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the effective date above will change too. Questions: [email protected]
